These wool garlands are a great way to decorate a room and are incredibly simple to make. They also offer the perfect chance to use up all those scrap pieces of wool you may have at home. You can use any type of wool and any colours for this project.
Step one: Cut your wool into roughly equal lengths. Determine how long you want each piece to hang and double it – each piece will be folded in half. The pieces in the photo above hang at 5 inches, therefore you would need to cut each piece at 10 inches long. Tip: to cut lots of pieces at once cut a piece of card to a width you want the wool to hang out, for example 5 inches. Wrap the wool around the card width repeatedly then use scissors to cut the wool at one edge to have equal strips of 10 inches. The number of pieces you need will depend on how long you want your garland to be.
Step two: If using different coloured wool arrange the pieces to create the colour order or pattern you want.
Step three: Cut the string to the length you want your garland to be.
Step four: Start attaching the wool to the string. Pinch the wool in half, fold the top end (with the loop) over the string and thread the ends through the loop. Pull tight to knot in place. Keep going until all the pieces are attached, leaving a few inches at each end free so your garland can be hung up.
Step five: Your garland is complete. Hang or drape anywhere you wish!
