Find out more about what we do through the people we work with. Here is the story of Mrs S, a member of our social groups…

Mrs S has been a member of Qube for about 18months; she started by attending the social group. She had lost her confidence and wanted to start to make some changes, she instantly felt at home in the group, even after the first visit she knew that things would be heading in a positive direction. Mrs S recalled that she felt welcome and invited into the group, there are no cliques and she was able to mingle and meet several new people, the groups were a nice size and not too overwhelming for her. There was always a good programme on, but importantly the chance to sit, have a chat and a cuppa to make friends and have a laugh too.

Due to health issues Mrs S has been shielding for all of the lockdowns we have faced, this has brought about several challenges and Mrs S has been able to get assistance and guidance from Qube. Hearing about the help for Shopping and Hot meals, DAR and knowing the team are still around has been so reassuring; “I did not realise that Qube was more than an Art Gallery!”

Since it was not possible to meet up she has been a regular recipient of our Telephone Befriending service, she currently gets a regular friendly telephone call and catch up, she says “I literally found my voice, I had lost the art of conversation, spending so much time alone and having nobody to talk to was so difficult , losing family and friends has been very difficult , having faced so many challenges I now consider Qube , volunteers and staff to be my friends and network.”

“I am looking forward to trying out one of the new ipads and improving my Digital skills, this will help me to get connected in other ways.”

“I am so pleased that I made the step and came through that door all those months ago.”
