Upcoming exhibitions at Qube Gallery
This year will see the return of some of our favourite exhibitions including the Qube Open Art Competition, the Millicent Kaye Exhibition and the fabulous Christmas Crafts at the end of the year.
Millicent Kaye Children’s Art Exhibition
17th to 30th June
This annual competition, organised by the Rotary Club of Oswestry, invites school children in and around Oswestry to submit a piece of art on a particular theme. Shortlisted works will go on display in Qube Gallery.
Sometimes doing nothing leads to something...
3rd to 31st July
Alec Shepley plans to exhibit drawings, gesso and embroidered works that are iterations of walks and ‘sweeps’ from the past three years. He focuses on drawing as action, drawing as a spatial practice, using walking and cleaning as a method of documenting his walks or ‘drifts’.
The Big House
1st to 31st August
The Big House is an installation piece by Australian artists, Catherine Blamey and Kate Shone, both with family history in Shropshire. This work of copper repousse and stained glass explores the topic of illegitimacy, the rights of servant women and the epigenetic trauma arising from the stigma of being illegitimate in Victorian England. The outcome is a memorial dedicated to all of the servant women of Shropshire at that time.
