About the Cancer Champion Programme

The Cancer Champion Programme is part of a wider programme or work that’s being delivered by the Core20PLUS.

The Core20Plus programme builds on work previously done by NHS England to address health inequalities and deliver meaningful change. Its focus is to use volunteer initiatives to help reach out to the communities that are most in need of the support and awareness of the health services, including cancer screening.

The Shropshire and Telford Cancer Champions campaign is funded through Wave 1 of the NHS England and NHS Improvement Core20PLUS Connectors Programme. It focuses on cancer, cancer screening uptake, early diagnosis awareness and prevention. The project partners are NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council, as well as delivery partners Lingen Davies Cancer Fund (Telford) and Qube (Shropshire).

What is a Cancer Champion?

Cancer Champions are volunteers who build the role into their everyday life. So, whether you’re sat at home with your family, socializing with friends, or chatting with your work colleagues there’s always an opportunity. You don’t need to be experienced as the Cancer Champion Coordinators will be on hand to provide training and support every step of the way,

Training & Events
