The Displaced Artists – The Power of Home
In an age of mass refuge movements a look at how for artists this is nothing new, artists from the past have been displaced for many reasons religion, politics or sexual orientation.
This evening talk with, Sarah Gathercole, looks at how the artists religion affects where they can live, what they can do, how being a woman in Iran and Iraq has many consequences, how you do not have to be removed from the country to be displaced, indigenous peoples from Australia and Canada art using art to re-establish a cultural identity. It will also look at how refugees are using art to express themselves.
