Women artists not only reflect society, culture and religion, they are often a witness to events from the domestic to the world stage. Over the centuries they have been marginalised and underappreciated and had to fight for any form of recognition, many would say that this fight still has yet to be won.
This evening talk, with Sarah Gathercole, looks at women artists from many cultures, who reflect the time in which they live, women who use their own bodies in extraordinary ways to express ideas of culture and religion. Using art to form an identity.
The talk will be covering women from Britain, Australia, Serbia, Ethiopia, Mexico, Guyana and more…
