The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of branch computer systems and provide IT support for the branch.
Further details of responsibilities;
Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving or referring on any hardware/ software faults as appropriate
Providing support to all volunteers where needed, including procedural documentation
Supporting the roll-out of new hardware or software, including Samaritans Connect caller contact system
Setting up new users’ accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues
Liaising with Central Office as appropriate about any continuing IT problems, where continuing IT problems in the branch would result in prolonged loss of service
Expenses
All out of pocket expenses related to the role will be reimbursed in line with Branch Expenses Policy
Recruitment of the Volunteer
An interview will be held with a potential volunteer.
All new Samaritans volunteers must complete the Induction module of Samaritans Initial Training.
Appropriate training specific to the role will be arranged.

What skills do I need?
Maintaining confidentiality at all times regarding sensitive information encountered within Samaritans
Practical experience of a variety of IT tools
Approachable & organised
Able to communicate IT support needs to the Director (Chairman in Scotland) and the Chair of Branch Committee as appropriate
Ability to motivate and encourage, particularly those who are not confident with new technologies.
