Opportunity

OTN produces a weekly audible version of local news, mainly from the Oswestry Advertiser and local magazines and it is run by a complementary team of committed individuals with varied skills.

The recording role involves visiting the Oswestry Guildhall on a Thursday morning on a rotational basis, to record the readers as they read from the Oswestry Advertizer and then collate all files onto one memory stick for duplication ready to be distributed to our listeners.

To provide back up to other recorders when there is a technical issue via phone or physical presence in the recording studio situated in the Guildhall in Oswestry.

OTN’s volunteers can claim reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, subject to the production of receipts as evidence of the expenditure. OTN has a consistent approach to the reimbursement of expenses which are the same for volunteers and trustees, and mileage is based on the authorised Mileage Rate (45p per mile).

What skills do I need?

We require someone who can:-

• trouble shoot when problems arise during the recording process

• maintain hardware equipment and ensure compatibility between software

• organise archiving of data and memory clearance

• keep up to date with changing technology that may impact our production process

• Follow TNtalk (TNF email forum) for technical and other changes affecting Talking News

Requirement – Become familiar with all production systems and be prepared to react to a call for assistance from the recording or the distribution team on an ad hoc basis.
