Opportunity

The Movement Centre is a specialist treatment centre and children’s charity. We are dedicated to providing a specialist physiotherapy called Targeted Training, which enables children to gain essential functional skills, which completely changes their lives.

We provide our service completely free of charge, families come from all over the UK to access our treatment with our specialist physiotherapy team.

The children we see at The Movement Centre may have Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Genetic Disorders or other diagnosis that affect their movement.

A course of Targeted Training Therapy is delivered over 12 months with children and their families coming back to The Movement Centre every 8 weeks for assessments where we look to lower the support initially required.

Although we offer this service free to all, we couldn’t do this without the support we receive from our corporate supporters, trusts & foundations and our families.

Join a passionate and dedicated team at The Movement Centre, where every volunteer’s contribution is valued and celebrated. Together, you’ll work towards ensuring children reach their full potential whatever that may be.

Once applications have been reviewed, suitable candidates will be invited to visit The Movement Centre to meet the team and undergo an informal interview.

Background checks will be conducted to ensure safety. A DBS check will be required.

Successful candidates will then learn more about The Movement Centre’s mission, policies and procedures. Adhering to when representing The Movement Centre within their Volunteer role.

What skills do I need?

We are seeking a passionate individual as a therapy volunteer to support our clinical specialist physiotherapy team.

Ideally you may have a clinical background to enable you to have some knowledge and experience in physiotherapy. But this isn’t not essential. You may have experience working with children and maybe those with additional learning difficulties.

Main duties

Play a supportive role with the physiotherapist and families during the session.

Engage with children during sessions providing a friendly face to what could be a daunting experience.

Assist the team with taking photographs capturing any targets reached throughout the sessions

Assist with the set up and clean down of clinical areas and any equipment used during the therapy session
