Opportunity

We require helpers to join the team on a Tuesday. You would help run our Day Centre at Kingsway Court which provides activities and friendship to local older people. The role requires you to help set up the room, greet members with a warm welcome, prepare and serve refreshments, wash up and help with a range of social activities. At the end of the day the room needs to be returned to it\'s original state.

The Day Centre is open from about 9.30am to 2pm.

There is no personal care involved in this role.

Must be over 18.

We ask all volunteers to complete an application form and to provide two referees.

Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be required, we will complete the paperwork for you.

Training is provided.

Agreed expenses will be paid.

You will be fully supported by Age UK staff.

What skills do I need?

We\'re looking for people with a warm and friendly personality and the ability to join in with a team. Being able to listen and engage with the members is a must as providing friendship and companionship is the aim of the service. You\'ll need to be able to move tables and chairs, to lay out the room at the start of the day and be able to serve refreshments and do some washing up.

Although you may not volunteer every week we do need you to be reliable for the days you have committed to.
