Alan Claro, now in his seventies, had an art-free technical education. After retiring from an engineering career he took up painting and is a largely self-taught amateur artist.
He works with a limited palette of acrylics on still-life and landscape, often using photography as a starting point. He finds painting therapeutic with the bonus of a sense of achievement on completing a piece. Working in group sessions with the guidance of a professional artist helps him maintain momentum, as well as being socially enjoyable.
