About

Emma Sherry is a local contemporary artist working mainly in mixed-media and collage. Emma has a passion for environmental issues, particularly climate change and single-use plastics.

The ‘Magnify the issue: Plastic Planet’ collection aims to highlight the ubiquitous presence of single-use plastic on our beautiful planet. No matter where you explore, you will discover single-use, discarded plastic and we need to do as much as we can to change this. Single-use plastic also directly affects climate-change due to the carbon footprint in manufacture and almost all plastic being derived from materials made from fossil fuels (mostly oil and gas).

We need to become more sustainable and Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Repurpose, Reuse, Recycle and Rot.

‘Magnify the issue: Plastic Planet I’ is of Black Nore Lighthouse in Portishead where Emma lived before moving back to Shropshire to be closer to family.

“Discovery” is a mixed media, collage painting of a snail framed within a magnifying glass. It represents the world of exploration and discovery through a child’s eyes – inspiration taken from Emma’s son’s interest in nature exploring the garden whilst wearing his “Explorer” outfit!
