A fascinating evening talk by art historian, Sarah Gathercole as part of the Big Draw Festival.

In a fascinating exploration of art and mental health, Sarah Gathercole examines famous artists who are known to have lived with a mental health condition as well as those who have used art as a therapy to alleviate their suffering. She examines changing attitudes to mental health over time, considers the role played by gender and discovers the impact that living with an artist has had on the lives of their partners.

This lecture will give a fascinating insight into the artist’s struggle to create, often with surprising and positive outcomes.
