06 Jun Qube provides backing of crucial Mental Health Support in Shropshire
On average, Shropshire residents have to wait four weeks for an initial mental health assessment. With that in mind, Shropshire Council has partnered with Qube to run the Shropshire Mental Health project.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, there was an outpour of outstanding work from Voluntary and Community sector organisations. Now that things have settled a little, attention needs to be turned to the mental health and wellbeing of the staff, volunteers and beneficiaries that were present during that period, providing them with the relevant support and training.
The Shropshire Mental Health Project will provide access to resilience sessions and training which will enable them to recognise possible stress and burn-out, in themselves and others, and to develop as teams and as individual professionals.
We are very pleased that Adam Fejfer from Qube has been assigned the role of Mental Health Support Officer. He will coordinate a mental health training programme and is also working towards setting up the Shropshire Mental Health Alliance; a shared platform for community and voluntary organisations committed to offering mental health support by providing sufficient training and creating a partnership where our members can ask for advice, sharing their own experience and signposting to support services.
Adam says about the project; ‘I am aware of the situation with mental health, and I’m delighted to be in a position where I can help to make strides in the provision of mental health support to those in voluntary and community sector organisations. I hope that, with the help of other local organisations, this project can achieve great results, making Shropshire a healthier county.’
