David Walton

I am a retired art teacher (NDD, ATD, DAE) and have recently completed my MA in Fine Art at Derby University. For a number of years, I have been a member (RBSA) of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.

My artworks are in the permanent collections of Birmingham University School of Medicine, Derby Museum and Art Gallery, Creswell Crags Museum, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, and the Edge Art Centre.

As a ‘hard edge’ abstract painter my recent interest has been in shaped panels which are cut out of wood. These works have been exhibited at the RBSA group of eight show, Abstract Variations (Nov 2019) and a three man show at the Foxlowe Art Centre, Leek (Jan-Mar 2020).

My most recent project was one of the twenty-five Swan public sculptures in Burton upon Trent, launch date the 8th of August. In September I shall be part of the Secret Severn Exhibition at Ironbridge.

For the Reflection theme I created a piece which suggested rotation and comprised, four pairs of reflecting shapes. I was also interested in the impact of a limited colour range.
