Scrying, is the practice of looking into a suitable medium in the hope of divining significant messages or visions.

Scrying, is the practice of looking into a suitable medium in the hope of detecting significant messages or visions. This is done for various reasons including prophecy, revelation, inspiration, or attaining guidance.

The most commonly used mediums for scrying have reflective, refractive, translucent or luminescent surfaces. These include crystals, crystal balls, mirrors, polished obsidian, glass and water.

During lockdown I spent hours in the garden digging a vegetable patch. Three hours a day was the norm during those hard lock down days.

During these hours of silent and solitary contemplation I discovered, rediscovered and dug up many garden treasures. CDs to scare birds, galvanised chicken feeders, pottery, clay pipes and sherds of glass from previous residents. Old gardening tools, bird feeders and even donations blown in from the local garage ..discarded plastic gloves from slipshod customers.

I started selecting objects that resonated with each other and etched or engraved the pieces with the repeating words ”And Another Day” and constructed art works out of these found pieces.

The Scrying pool asks the viewer to make their own reflections within this piece

I am generally known as a Costume maker and Printmaker but I find that I happily work with other techniques when the subject demands it.

This is my first 3 dimensional piece.
