William Rogers

They say that being outside surrounded by nature is good for the soul and that is what I try to capture in my work, to bring a bit of the outside in. As someone who has been working in sculpture for a year I try to be as anatomically correct as possible but am most interested in capturing the soul of the subject.

When I saw a kingfisher hunting on the River Severn for all of fifteen seconds before it was off down the river like a streak of blue lightning, I knew I was going to have to at least attempt to capture it in sculpture.

As a local amateur artist who works at Castle fine arts foundry, a bronze foundry in Llanrhaeadr-ym, I see lots of other artist work on a daily basis and was inspired to take advantage of the opportunity that having a bronze foundry at my finger tips gave me.
