Say Hello to our new Chief Officer, Kim!

Say Hello to our new Chief Officer, Kim!

Kim Wootton has joined Qube as our new Chief Officer. We managed to catch Kim before she immersed herself in her new role and asked her a few questions so we could get to know her a little more! Here, we share some interesting bits about her background, why she was inspired to join Qube and more about what she gets up to outside of work.

Tell us a bit about your background

For the past nine years, I was the Operations Director at a public benefit entity, owned by a charity. My role focused on delivering support to individuals and families that found themselves in financial difficulty and in need of help with grants, money, debt, welfare, and water and energy assistance, which really allowed me to express my passion for making a positive difference.  I have experience in operational delivery, strategic development and creating partnerships to ensure more people can be supported.

Prior to this, I spent 23 years at Severn Trent Water in various roles, including Group Internal Audit and leading Customer Service Teams.

What was it that inspired you to apply for the Chief Officer role at Qube?

Seven years ago, my husband and I began renovating a cottage near Lake Vyrnwy.  The job was much bigger than we expected, but it never felt like a chore when it enabled us to spend time in Shropshire and the Welsh borders.  The dream was to work and live here, being an active part of the community. The opportunity at Qube presented itself and, from the moment I saw the job advertisement, I knew it was the perfect role for me.  Qube has achieved so much under Laurel’s leadership and an extraordinary number of people have been helped, supported and their lives enriched.  Qube now enters a new chapter and to be a part of its future is very exciting.  I’m so proud to have joined Qube and I’m looking forward to continuing its great work and make a positive difference to even more  lives.

Tell us more about what you enjoy outside of work

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my husband, Robert and rescue dog, Belle.  Now we are based in Lake Vyrnwy, there are plenty of walks and things to do on our doorstep that will definitely keep us active.  I like baking, gardening and going to the theatre – musicals are my favourite.  My ultimate dislike is snakes – I can’t even bare to look at a picture of them – give me a spider any day. An interesting fact about me: in amongst my career history, I have also been a mystery shopper!

We are really excited for Kim to join the team and can’t wait to see what ideas she has for Qube in the future!
