Shropshire Mental Health Project

Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. In realisation of this, Shropshire Council has partnered with Qube to run a project that provides support to volunteers and community organisations to help change the current situation.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

Mental Health & Wellbeing Support

The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the outstanding work by Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations, their staff, and volunteers who supported those in need, both physically and emotionally.

Now more than ever it’s important that staff, volunteers and beneficiaries address their own mental health and wellbeing and can support those in the community with even more complex needs.

This service will provide access to resilience sessions and training, which will enable them to recognise possible stress and burn-out, in themselves and others, and to develop as teams and as individual professionals.

What is the Mental Health Alliance?

It is an alliance of community and voluntary organisations commited to support and offer mental health support for volunteers, staff and community members. Our aim is to promote wellbeing and raise awareness about mental health issues. We want to help our members by providing sufficient training and create a partnership where our members can ask for advice, sharing their own experience and signposting to support services.

Meet Adam our Mental Health Support Officer

Adam Fejfer is Mental Health Support Officer at the Qube. For many years, Adam has worked in the Health and Care sector, including the ambulance service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He joined the Qube team to support community organisations with mental health training and hopes to work with several county-wide organisations to create a Mental Health Alliance, offering unrivalled support to the community. Adam says; “I am really proud to lead the project which is hugely needed and will positively impact our communities.“

Aside from work, my family and I have lived in Shrewsbury for over 16 years. I am a coach at two local football teams and a volunteer for community groups, including the Shropshire European Organisation CIC helping to organise community events.

In my free time, I enjoy long walks with the dog and spend time with my family. Apart from that I like to read books, especially fantasy and history.
