10 Oct World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10th October. This year’s theme set by the World Federation of Mental Health is Workplace Mental Health. The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations and communities.
It’s crucial to shine a light on one of the most pressing issues affecting modern workplaces: burnout. In our fast-paced world, more employees are experiencing chronic stress that leads to burnout. Burnout doesn’t happen overnight. It’s gradual and can take hold before you’re truly aware of it. It doesn’t just affect individual wellbeing; it has far-reaching consequences for organisations too.
We’re calling for everyone to take shared responsibility for workplace mental health. From employers to employees, executives to managers, we must unite in educating ourselves and one another to recognise the signs of poor mental health and provide mutual support so that we can create healthier, more resilient workplaces where mental well-being is a priority for all.
A mentally healthy workplace is a thriving workplace. Let’s work together to combat poor mental health and burnout and foster environments where everyone can flourish.
For our part, Qube are running regular Mental Health training workshops in parternship with Shropshire Council. The next training is a Suicide First Aid Aware Training Course on the 13th November (9.30-4.30pm) at the Lantern Community Hall, with an aim to support staff and volunteers from the community and voluntary sector working with Shropshire Council residents. Contact Adam Fejfer, Mental Health Support Officer at Qube to book your space. Email a.fejfer@qube-oca.org.uk or call 07515713141
Adam says: “I am proud Qube is lead in organising training dedicated to improve Mental Health for organisations and communities. WMHD is only once a year, but we should look after the health and Mental Health the whole year, that is why I encourage organisations and volunteers from across the county to attend in training.”
