About the Saving Energy North Shropshire project

In North Shropshire, 9300 households (19.3%) live in fuel poverty and with the continual rise in energy bills, we understand all too well the challenges that are being faced, which is one of the key reasons why we have launched the Saving Energy North Shropshire project. The project aims to provide a safe and warm place in our community hub for vulnerable people to visit to gain energy advice and support. We will have Energy Champions on hand to have conversations around energy and equip our community with vital skills and knowledge for saving energy and reducing costs.

Volunteer as an Energy Champion

To enable us to deliver this fantastic project to the wider North Shropshire area, we will be recruiting and training 30 energy champions who will be provided with useful information to help advise and support households. Our Energy Champions will attend outreach activities and talks at local events and community settings throughout the region to spread the word further about saving energy and lowering costs.

If you want to become a volunteer Energy Champion, contact Adam or Bee. Call 01691 656882 or email a.fejfer@qube-oca.org.uk

Join our knitathon!

To support the Saving Energy North Shropshire project, Oswestry Community Action will be hosting a knitathon. This will allow us to create warm scarves and blankets so we can offer these to those most in need as part of a winter warmth package. If you want to join us as part of the knitathon, please call in to see us between the 20th and 22nd August, as we’re doing a knitting takeover in our gallery area.
