Would you like to use your professional skills, business acumen or relevant experience to help direct one of North Shropshire’s most vibrant and forward-thinking charities? 

Qube, a charity and community anchor organisation is looking for new Trustees to play an essential role in the governance of our charity.

 

What is Qube?

Oswestry Community Action, Qube, is a community anchor organisation and registered charity based in Oswestry. It provides multiple services for the community which include Community Transport, Arts and Culture, Well-being and Befriending, Volunteering and Learning and Information.

The ethos of Qube is access to services for all. Our services have been developed over time in response to local need such as rural poverty, social isolation and lack of opportunities. The majority of our services are aimed at those who are disadvantaged including disability, health, mental health, unemployment, rural poverty and social isolation. Qube services help to keep people engaged in their community, lessen social isolation and keep people living independently with a good quality of life.

Qube has a dynamic, hands-on Board of Trustees which is looking for enthusiastic people with professional skills, business acumen or relevant life experience to join them in taking Qube forward.

 

What is a trustee?

Being a trustee at Qube gives the opportunity to provide support and leadership to an organisation that is making real difference to individuals in the community of Oswestry and the surrounding area. Our Trustees play a fundamental role in the strategic development of Qube working alongside the Chief Officer and senior staff in accordance with the charity’s objectives, vision and values.

 

What does a Trustee do?

As a trustee you are part of a team and will have the opportunity to apply your unique skills and experience while learning from others. Working with a passionate team of people who have different perspectives is often one of the most enjoyable aspects of the role. As well as providing a valuable service to the community you will also have opportunities for networking and personal development and will gain valuable experience in the governance of an organisation.

Being a trustee can be very rewarding and as a trustee you have the chance to support and shape the work and strategic direction of an organisation that really makes a difference to people’s lives

Qube welcomes first-time and experienced trustees who are passionate about social change and want to make a difference in their community.  We are particularly looking for expertise in:

  • Finance and accounting
  • Legal
  • Marketing and PR
  • Human resources
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Fundraising especially major donors, corporate, regular giving and legacies

We need people who:

  • Will embrace the values and behaviours of Qube
  • Are willing and committed to be active, engaged, and collaborative
  • Are independent and exercise sound judgement and challenge
  • Are familiar with understanding and interpreting financial and other data
  • Are commercially aware with experience of Strategy, Governance, and Compliance

You will be expected to attend six board meetings a year and you will have the opportunity to contribute time outside the meetings on outcome-focused projects.

This is a volunteer unremunerated role with responsibilities both under Company Law as a Director and Charity Law as a Trustee
