02 Apr New exhibition: Heide Meredith
Exhibiting in our Alcove Gallery until 2nd May is Heide Meredith.
Heide is a self-taught sculptor, who has always been interested in pottery. During lockdown, she converted the garage, bought a window on eBay, was lucky enough to receive a kiln for her birthday, and set up her studio – PotOwl which overlooks the breath-taking views of the Welsh hills. Since then, she has used the local wildlife, nature, and seasonal changes to sculpt an array of unique pieces, sometimes whimsical, sometimes more serious studies but all with the same objective, to make people smile. Sculpting and learning from her mistakes has got her through lockdown.
She has chronicled her story on Instagram (heides_pottery) and this has led to several galleries exhibiting her work, with increasing success.
“I am loving and learning all the time. I lie awake at night thinking up ideas, and I can’t wait to get back in my studio to try them out – it has been a huge learning curve but I’m loving the journey!”
Heide will be holding a ‘Meet the artist’ event on Wednesday 13th April between 11am and 2pm. Pop along, say hello and find out more about her work.
