Role details:
The Community Engagement Officers who work to
support the different primary care networks in the county could use support out
in the community to ensure the promotion of the social prescribing project to
as many people as possible in the county and this can be supported in several
ways – see below.
Tasks and responsibilities may include
any of the following:
- Dropping
leaflets and posters to GP surgeries for display for the benefit of patients
- Checking
that the electronic slide system in the surgery is showing a slide detailing
social prescribing
- Attending
local events to promote social prescribing
- Generally
champion the social prescribing project
- Attend
patient participation meetings
Rewards:
- Meet
different people at community events in the county.
- Encourage
a better understanding of social prescribing in the community in Shropshire.
What skills do I need?
Skills:
- Good communication skills, including the
ability to speak to practice staff
- Working as part of the social
prescribing community engagement team.
- Reliability
- Well organised and able to work within
agreed timescales and on own initiative.
Training:
- Every
volunteer will be required to attend an induction session where they will learn
about the work of Oswestry Community Action and Community Resource and all the
tasks they are required to carry out will be discussed, to ensure they have the
skills and confidence to fulfil their role. Other useful topics will also be
covered.
- All
volunteers will be supported by the
Community Engagement Officer in their particular area.
