About PCAS
PCAS has provided independent advocacy for over 30 years, supporting individuals across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin who may otherwise struggle to have their voices heard. Our work helps people understand their rights, express their views, and achieve positive outcomes in complex and challenging situations.
The Role
As a Trustee, you will play a vital part in helping to shape the future of PCAS. Trustees work collectively as a Board to set the strategic direction of the charity, ensure good governance, and support the senior leadership team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your local community while contributing your skills and experience to a well‑established charity at an important stage of development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and help guide the long‑term direction of PCAS
- Support and challenge the leadership team to ensure the charity operates effectively
- Ensure PCAS meets its legal, regulatory, and governance responsibilities
- Contribute to strengthening systems, policies, and overall sustainability
- Act in the best interests of PCAS and the people it supports
- Attend Trustee meetings and actively participate in discussion and decision‑making
Support
Trustees are supported by an experienced Chair, Treasurer, and senior management team, and will receive appropriate induction and ongoing support.
What skills do I need?
Skills and Experience
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds. In particular, we are interested in individuals with experience or interest in:
- Legal matters
- Fundraising or income generation
- Human Resources
- Governance or compliance
- Business, finance, or strategic planning
Lived experience, a commitment to advocacy, and an understanding of the challenges faced by people needing support are also highly valued.
