16 Apr Oswestry Community Action (Qube) welcome Bishop of Lichfield during his Pilgrimage for Lent
Oswestry Community Action (Qube) were thrilled to welcome the Bishop of Lichfield, Rt Revd Dr Michael Ipgrave OBE to our community building – also a Place of Welcome – on 7th April during his pilgrimage for Lent. Rt Rev Dr Michael Ipgrave OBE was joined by Bishop Sarah of Shrewsbury and other pilgrims who had accompanied him on his journey.
During his visit we were delighted to give him a tour of our new gallery exhibition, ‘The Landing Project’, and Molly Brown, one of the fantastic artists behind the exhibition, made a guest appearance to share the story and inspiration behind the exhibition.
Following that, the group enjoyed a well-earned warm drink and biscuit whilst the Oswestry Community Action team took the opportunity to explain further about our integral community services, including; Cancer Champions, the Shropshire Mental Health project, Community Transport, Wellbeing and Blood Pressure Champions project to name a few.
Kim Wootton, Chief Officer at Oswestry Community Action says, ‘We were delighted to be involved in the Bishop of Lichfield’s visit to Oswestry as part of his pilgrimage for Lent. We are proud to be a Place of Welcome and it was fantastic to be able to tell the Bishop more about the wide range of services we provide to our community, as well as a tour of the gallery and exhibition. Everyone is welcome to visit our community building and there is always a member of the team on hand to make a hot drink and have a chat.’
The Bishop of Lichfield completed his 10-day Pilgrimage; Seeking the Kingdom over the weekend, travelling from Lichfield, through Wolverhampton, Telford, Oswestry, Whitchurch, Longnor, Rushton then returning to Lichfield.
