30 Aug Stockist Spotlight: Lisa Osborne
Lisa Osborne plays host to our latest Stockist Spotlight opportunity as she showcases her wonderful nature art that you can buy from our gift shop. We’ve asked Lisa to share more details on how she creates her art and where her love of nature comes from.
What is it that you find interesting about the materials and methods you use in your work?
I enjoy working with a range of different media, including digital, acrylics, pastels, watercolour and pen and ink. Recently, my main focus has been on a series of bird illustrations produced using digital art which enables me to create bright, colourful, dynamic artwork. I love the simplicity and boldness which can be achieved when working digitally and this complements my bird illustrations. Digital art also gives flexibility and freedom to allow the illustrations to evolve which suits the way I prefer to work.
What is the inspiration behind your artwork?
I have always loved wildlife and being outdoors. A lot of my childhood was spent walking along the coast with habitats varying from woods to estuaries and heathlands. This has had a significant influence on my artwork, which is inspired by the outdoors and its environments. I now live in rural mid-Wales with its wonderful landscape and wildlife providing endless inspiration for my artwork.
Tell us a bit about you
I graduated from Swansea University with a degree in Geography and Topographic science before becoming a primary school teacher. Following that, I worked as a project officer in mid-Wales for many years alongside establishing myself as an artist and illustrator. I now paint and draw full-time and sell my artwork in several shops/galleries in England and Wales – Qube included.
