04 Oct Youth Sketchbook Club Exhibition
This year, Qube ran a monthly Youth Sketchbook Club, open for young people aged six to sixteen. The club was generously supported by the Rotary Club of Oswestry Mary Hignett Bequest Fund. Six local resident artists hosted Sketchbook Club sessions, sharing their skills with the young artists in a variety of techniques and styles. Artists included Leila Hodgson, Nichola Ethelston, George Triggs, Christine Kelly, Gemma Louise and Kate Youens.
Although the Sketchbook Club has now ended, Qube will be hosting an exhibition featuring work created by the young artists. The exhibition will be displayed in our Balcony Gallery from Saturday 14th September – Wednesday 6th November.
Gemma Manning-Bentley, Qube’s Art and Creativity Officer, says: “We are extremely grateful to the Rotary Club of Oswestry for their support for our Sketchbook club, and the artists that so kindly shared their skills with the group! We really hope that the young people have found the sessions useful, their enthusiasm and creativity has been so inspiring.”
Qube will have news of future youth offerings soon. In the meantime, we are taking mascot design submissions from young people aged 11-16.
