As an Enter
and View Volunteer, you’ll help make a real difference to health and social
care services across Shropshire. Our volunteers
are at the heart of what we do and are an integral part of an effective
Healthwatch. You’ll
visit hospitals, GP surgeries, care homes and other services to see and hear
how things are working from the perspective of the people who use them.
Your
observations and conversations will help us highlight what’s working well and
identify areas where improvements could be made. Your contribution will ensure
that local people’s experiences help shape the future of health and care in
Shropshire.
What You’ll Do
- Take part in Enter and
View visits, following Healthwatch Shropshire’s protocols and guidance.
- Observe how services
are delivered and record what you see.
- Talk with service
users, residents, families and staff about their experiences.
- Work with your visit
partner to summarise key observations and contribute to written reports.
- Represent Healthwatch
Shropshire positively and professionally.
- Take part in training and
team meetings as required; advance notice will be given.
- Maintain
confidentiality and show respect and sensitivity to everyone you meet.
What skills do I need?
Working as Part of a Team
- All visits are carried
out in pairs or small teams - you will never visit alone.
- Before each visit,
you’ll prepare by reading relevant background information and previous
reports which will be provided for you.
- Visits will take place
within the Shropshire area - access to transport is helpful, but not
mandatory.
Training and Support
You don’t
need any previous experience to volunteer - full training and support will be
provided.
You’ll
receive:
- An introduction to
Healthwatch Shropshire and the Enter and View programme.
- Full Enter and View training, including what to expect
and how visits are carried out.
- Ongoing training opportunities.
- Regular guidance and
support from the Healthwatch Shropshire Team.
- Opportunities to meet
other volunteers.
