Do you enjoy chatting with new people and want to reduce loneliness for older people? Then we may have the perfect volunteering role for you!

We currently have an opportunity for a Coffee Morning helper at our Forrest Way, Monkmoor, Shrewsbury retirement living scheme in the centre of Shrewsbury has a communal lounge with kitchen area in which residents can relax, socialise and participate in shared activities.

As an Activities Volunteer (Coffee Morning Lead) you will be hosting a regular get together of residents, supporting them with an opportunity to interact and socialise within their community, helping to reduce isolation and promote positive wellbeing. In this role you would be:

· Helping to set up the room before the group arrives and greet residents with a friendly face

· Ensuring that anyone coming for the first time feels welcome and supporting them to join in.

· Helping to collect any money (subs) for the event and ensure that it is handed to the appropriate person at the end.

· Making sure that the group has everything they need, encouraging conversations and making refreshments (tea/coffee).

· Clearing away after the activity.

Care Plus commitment to you:

· Induction programme to ensure you have the skills and confidence to fulfil your role.

· All volunteers will require a DBS check which will be paid for by us.

· Out of pocket expenses reimbursed, including travel costs

· Additional training opportunities offered

· All volunteers will be supported by the Engagement and Volunteer Team and their skills and contribution to the group will be reviewed on a regular basis.

What skills do I need?

Be able to communicate clearly with residents, staff and volunteers

Be empathetic and non-judgemental towards residents

Be proactive in identifying where our residents might need help with activities

Be physically able to serve refreshments and clear away.
