Days/times/venue details for volunteer information:

Blists Hill Victorian Town Museum, Madeley, Telford TF7 5UD

Museum Open Times: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday, Sunday

10am – 5pm

Tasks and responsibilities may include any of the following:

• Welcoming and engaging with visitors as they arrive on site

• Role involves responsibility for hiring out the mobility scooters paperwork and example of use

• Located initially with the Front of House team, speaking about our sensory bags for SEND visitors

• Interact with visitors to advise on Sunflower Room

• Help visitors with who may need information on site facilities

• Confident enough have discussions with the general public

• Just assist people to have a good time

Additional Responsibilities:

• Understand the importance of the groups Health & Safety procedures.

• Understand the importance of confidentiality & safeguarding vulnerable children/and or adults.

• Be aware of the standards set by Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust and the need to always work to these standards.


What skills do I need?

Skills:

• A certain degree of physical fitness is needed.

• The Here to Help Volunteer works as part of the Front of House team.

• The Here to Help Volunteer should be reliable and arrive to help on the dates and times agreed.

Training:

• Every volunteer will receive our mandatory training which includes site induction.

• Every volunteer will have access & be signposted to training which the group feels is appropriate for the role.

• Every volunteer will be trained in all the tasks they are required to carry out to ensure they have the skills and confidence to fulfil their role.

• No volunteer will be expected to carry out their duties unsupervised until they are confident and skilled in these duties.

• All volunteers will be supported by a Front of House colleague and their skills and contribution to the group will be reviewed on a regular basis.

Availability Details

Volunteers will be required to arrive half an hour before the site opens to the public at 10am daily. Volunteer Am shift will be 10 am to 13.30, Pm 13.30 to 16.30
