Opportunity

Oswestry Community Action (OCA) is looking for a volunteer to support the Marketing & Communications Officer by handling social media content. OCA delivers services in the local community to a diverse range of customers and works in partnership with other organisations

A Marketing & Social Media Volunteer would:

                     Regularly liaise with OCA staff working in different areas of the charity to collect material that can be shared on social networks;

                     Search online for credible statistics that can be used in relation to OCA projects, referencing the source so they can be used for creating infographics;

                     Familiarise themselves with OCA projects and search online for related information which could be suitable for use in social channel posts;

                     Create draft posts for OCA social channels using the brand tone of voice;

                     Investigate & implement methods to create an OCA personal profile to enable us to share content with local groups.

Other tasks may include:

                     Use Canva to create social media imagery;

                     Work with the Communications Officer to extrapolate data to indicate the reach and coverage of social media posts;

What skills do I need?

We ask a volunteer to be friendly and welcoming with good organisational skills.

 A Marketing & Social Media Volunteer would:

                     Have a good working knowledge of social media platforms;

                     Enjoy researching and be able to collate and synthesise information;

                     Show interest in all aspects of  OCA’s work and be interested in keeping well informed;

                     Have experience of using Canva or be willing to learn;

                     Be confident communicating both online with the public and in person with staff members and project coordinators;

                     Have an awareness of deadlines and use this judgment to decide when a post should be issued;

                     Be aware of OCA’s ethical stance and reflect this in social media posts, to avoiding bring the charity into disrepute.
