Opportunity

Volunteers in this role will be providing a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors of Shrewsbury Castle. Volunteers will also be:

• Offering directions around the castle building
• Sharing your knowledge of the Soldiers of Shropshire Museum collections
• Working with staff and other volunteers as part of a small team
• Supporting events and activities taking place across the museum

What Shrewsbury Museum and Archives do to support you:

• An induction to welcome you to the team and get you ready to start volunteering
• The opportunity to develop customer facing experience and be part of a team welcoming visitors to Shrewsbury Castle and the Soldiers of Shropshire Museum
• Access to training and resources as required to assist you with your volunteer role
• Support from both Shropshire Museums and the Soldiers of Shropshire Museum
• Currently volunteers are not offered travel expenses in line with Shropshire Council’s procedures. Please do discuss this with the Volunteering and Engagement Team.

What skills do I need?

• Being comfortable with talking to people or looking to build experience in this
• An ability to work independently at times but be a good team player too
  
• Keen interest in ensuring all visitors have a positive experience at the museum
• Honesty and reliability
