Do you enjoy the outdoors, have a love for our four-legged friends and would like to make a positive difference to residents in our Retirement Living Schemes? Then we may have the perfect volunteering role for you!
We currently have an opportunity for a Volunteer Dog Walker in the Monkmoor area of Shrewsbury, to support a resident who is no longer able to take her canine companion out as often as she would like. He is a small friendly dog who knows his way around. He doesn’t need a long walk and is very good with other dogs. If you are able to help our canine friend and his owner, we’d love to hear from you. In this role you would:
• Collect the dog from their owner at pre-agreed times.
• Walk the dog on the lead, during daylight hours, around a pre-agreed route(s) providing support for a resident who would otherwise be unable to exercise their dog.
• Clean up dog faeces, using poo bags provided by the owner, and dispose of it properly.
• Return the dog from their owner at pre-agreed times.

Care Plus commitment to you:
· Induction programme to ensure you have the skills and confidence to fulfil your role.
· All volunteers will require a DBS check which will be paid for by us.
· Out of pocket expenses reimbursed, including travel costs
· Additional training opportunities offered
· All volunteers will be supported by the Engagement and Volunteer Team and their skills and contribution to the group will be reviewed on a regular basis.
