Opportunity

As a Mental Health Champion volunteer, you will play a vital role in raising awareness, providing support and promoting positive mental health within the community. Your role is about creating a safe, supportive environment for individuals to talk about their mental health, reducing stigma and helping others access appropriate mental health resources. You will act as a point of contact, offer empathy and engage in activities that promote well-being organised by Designs In Mind. 

A Mental Health Champion will:

  • Raise Awareness through sharing resources including helplines, professional services and self-care strategies.
  • Provide Peer Support by offering a non-judgmental listening ear, helping individuals identify coping strategies and healthy habits and by providing reassurance.
  • Facilitate Mental Health Programs: Attend and assist in workshops and contribute to planning events related to mental health. 
  • Sign-post to Professional help. 
  • Promote a safe and supportive environment

What skills do I need?

  • Empathy and active listening skills
  • A passion for mental health awareness and well-being
  • Non-judgmental attitude and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Basic understanding of mental health issues and challenges (training will be provided).
